Student Success Centers

Student Success Centers (SSCs) are youth-led college access centers located on school campuses. SSCs are collaborations between community-based organizations and public schools, staffed by adults and high school students who work in partnership to develop awareness about college and to guide other students through the college search, application, and financial aid process. Youth Leaders who staff SSCs are specifically trained to help their peers to explore, understand, and access college and are paid for their work. CARA has supported the development of the Student Success Center Initiative since the Urban Youth Collaborative successfully organized for them in 2005. CARA provides programmatic support, partnership development, and facilitation of cross-site collaboration.
